John Travolta

John Joseph Travolta. Amerykański tancerz, aktor i piosenkarz.
W szkole dramatycznej w Nowym Jorku ćwiczył głos, uczył się aktorstwa i tańca. Naukę porzucił w wieku 16 lat, zaczął występować musicalach i reklamach TV. W wieku 18 lat wystąpił na Broadwayu (m.in. w musicalu Grease). W kinie debiutował w 1975 roku. Światową sławę przyniósła mu rola w Gorączce sobotniej nocy J. Badhama (1977), a ugruntowały ją kreacje w takich filmach jak: Grease (1978, reż. R. Kleiser), Miejski kowboj (1980, reż. J. Bridges), Staying Alive (1983, reż. S. Stallone). Travolta stał się idolem nastolatków ery "disco", naśladowano jego sposób tańca i ubioru. Kryzys nastąpił w latach 80. Po 10 latach grania w mniej znaczących filmach prawdziwy przełom nastąpił wraz z rolą Vincenta Vegi w Pulp fiction Q. Tarantino (1995). Rola ta przyniosła mu nominację do Oscara.
